Health Insurance

Georgetown University requires that most MBA students, according to registration criteria, have university-approved health insurance. Eligible students are charged for and required to purchase the Premier Plan unless they waive out with other coverage that meets the University’s requirements.

You will receive two fall fees on your student account for the University sponsored student health plan, as follows:

Eligible incoming in-person Flex MBA students will receive the annual fee for coverage beginning August 15, but not the early arrival fee.
Open Enrollment and waiver instructions will be emailed to your Georgetown email address upon the insurance fees posting to your student account during the summer. (Coverage for spouses and children is also available.) Visit the Student Health Insurance Site for the most up-to-date information and consider the Checklist for Health Insurance Coverage before waiving (waiver submission form).

Vaccinations and Immunizations

Mandatory immunizations and health screenings are based on District of Columbia Law as well as guidance from the CDC and the American College Health Association. All students under age 26 are required to provide documentation of vaccination or immunity from Diptheria, Pertussis, Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Meningitis. All incoming students, regardless of age, are screened for tuberculosis (TB).

Incoming students must enter immunization and TB screening information, as well as submit required health documentation, through the Georgetown University and Health Information Database Portal. More information can be found on the Student Health Services website.

As of Spring 2023, Georgetown will strongly encourage but no longer require students, faculty, or staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Health professional students who have clinical placements with affiliated organizations (e.g., MedStar Health) will still need to comply with their associated immunization requirements, including for COVID-19.

We strongly recommend that all community members stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and receive the latest booster or any new dose that becomes available and recommended by the CDC moving forward.
